International Bat Night at Devil’s Throat Cave and Yagodinska Cave

For another year, Science for Nature Foundation organized the International Bat Night in order to promote the important role of bats in nature and their conservation. The event took place in two caves, Devil’s Throat and Yagodinska Cave – home of some of the largest bat colonies in Bulgaria. On August 22 the event was held in front of the Devil’s Throat Cave, and on August 23 – in front of the Yagodinska Cave.

For our project “Of Bats and Men”, financed by the Disney Conservation Fund, we have finished planting fruit trees in several places in the Eastern Rhodope mountains during the month of december. On 20th January, we used thorns to fence the trees - an extremely simple, and yet maximally effective method of protection.
