On October 27–28, 2025, an International Conference on Bat Research and Conservation was held in Bansko, Bulgaria,organized by the Science for Nature Foundation within the framework of the project “Life Under One Roof” (LIFE17 NAT/BG/000602), funded by the EU LIFE Programme.

The event brought together more than 50 experts, researchers, students, and representatives of non-governmental organizations from Bulgaria, Greece, the Czech Republic, and other European countries. The forum united specialists from various fields: ecology, microbiology, and speleology to exchange knowledge, experiences, and good practices related to the study and conservation of bats and their habitats.
Over the two days of the conference, several scientific presentations were presented, covering a wide range of topics related to these unique flying mammals. The results achieved under the LIFE project “Life Under One Roof” were also presented and discussed.
Among the keynote speakers were Assoc. Prof. Jan Zukal from the Institute of Vertebrate Biology, Czech Republic;Dr. Radek K. Lučan from Charles University in Prague; Prof. Georgi Popgeorgiev from the National Museum of Natural History at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Heliana Dundarova from the Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research – BAS; and Dr. Panagiotis Georgiakakis from the University of Crete.
